How can I find templates (sample sheets) for Workspace and Datastream in Excel?
Templates (or sample sheets) can be used to download a curated set of data about one particular equity, economic indicator or sector at a time. You can get the multiple datatypes and years all in one go.
Templates for LSEG Refinitiv Workspace and Datastream can be found in the Workspace Excel add-in: click the 'Templates' button and use the filters to find the template you are interested in. The file will save to the Downloads folder. You may have to accept various permissions when you open the template for it to work correctly.

Use the buttons, tick boxes and drop-down menus within a sample sheet to control it. Sometimes, a button labelled ‘Go’ or similar will update the other sheets.
- Most of the templates are written for Workspace. They require a RIC to identify the company. If you don't have the RIC, look it up via the 'Search' icon.
- Templates written for Datastream require an ISIN or Datastream code/mnemonic to identify the company.
Note, any data you download via a sample sheet can also be obtained via a regular Workspace or Datastream request. If you find a particular datatype you want to use for different entities, make a note of its code.
