What is a Datastream Request Table?

Datastream request table example

Datastream Request Tables are a powerful feature of the Datastream Excel add-in. The idea is simple: the Excel request sheet contains one or more Datastream requests, one per row, and when the table is processed the requests are issued and the results written to their chosen location (Excel Sheet1, Sheet2 etc.). The one request per row approach means that you can copy, paste and edit to build up a table of related requests. (Remember to edit the request destination or you will find some results are overwritten.)

How do I unblock a request table which I received by email or downloaded?

In the latest versions of Microsoft 365, macro-enabled workbooks you download from the internet will be blocked from running. This is a security measure which we can disable for individual Excel workbooks with Datastream request tables. Here is the advice from Microsoft:

"For an individual file, such as a file downloaded from an internet location or an email attachment the user has saved to their local device, the simplest way to unblock macros is to remove Mark of the Web. To remove, right-click on the file, choose 'Properties', and then select the 'Unblock' checkbox on the 'General' tab."
