Using the Open Access Gateway

Answer

Author actions: Open Access for research articles

The Office for Open Research has developed the Open Access Gateway to facilitate deposit of papers for Open Access.

When you have a paper accepted for publication, you should use the Open Access Gateway to deposit a copy of your Accepted Author Manuscript (AAM). You will also need to provide the output type, the date your paper was accepted for publication, and the name of the journal, conference proceeding or book your output will be published in. Please ensure your AAM contains the article title and author list.

The Office for Open Research will then create a Pure record for your research output. This allows the output to appear on your Research Explorer profile.

The Office for Open Research will ensure that your paper meets the OA requirements set by the University publications policy by

  • verifying the manuscript version

  • checking applicable journal and funder policies

  • arranging Green OA upon publication of your article

You can also use the Open Access Gateway to apply for Gold OA funding

The Open Access Gateway is primarily intended to be used for the deposit of journal articles and peer-reviewed conference proceedings; however, you can also use the Gateway to deposit other output types, and we will add a record to Pure on your behalf.
