Pure: The University of Manchester’s institutional repository
Answer
Pure is the University’s Current Research Information System (CRIS). It can be used to record a wide range of research-related activity and outcomes and acts as our institutional repository for research outputs. Research Explorer is the public-facing portal of the Pure system.
You can add research output records to Pure in two ways:
-
Log in to Pure and manually create a record yourself
-
Deposit a copy of your Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM) via the Open Access Gateway. The Office for Open Research will then create a record on your behalf
The Pure system is managed by the Directorate of Research and Business Engagement (RBE). RBE provides user guides to support you to use the system, including creating Pure records.
The Office for Open Research is responsible for the editing and administration of Pure records of any research outputs which are in-scope of the Research Excellence Framework (REF) OA policy. This includes validating newly-created records; merging duplicate records; and correcting metadata wherever necessary.
For technical problems with Pure, or editorial tasks not relating to research output records, please contact RBE’s Pure team: pure@manchester.ac.uk
