Accessing RatingsDirect via S&P Capital IQ Pro

Overview

  • RatingsDirect is a source of historical and current S&P Global Ratings credit ratings and research, comprehensive market data, credit risk indicators, for companies around the world.
  • It is available as an additional service within the S&P Capital IQ Pro platform. You need to create a Capital IQ account.
  • You may already have RatingsDirect access on your Capital IQ account. If not, you can request it from S&P Global.
  • There is some help available from the Library, and more from S&P.

How do I check if I have RatingsDirect access?

  1. Log into Capital IQ Pro. (Direct link)
  2. Look for a menu option labelled RatingsDirect.

If you have RatingsDirect, you see red 'RD' badges next to company names when you search, to indicate when a company has RatingsDirect content.

Search Capital IQ Pro and look out for the 'RD' badge to indicate that a company has Ratings Direct content.

Formally, you can check account permissions by clicking the profile icon (top-right) then 'Current Accounts'. If there is only one 'key' here, you don't have RatingsDirect. If there are three 'keys', you have RatingsDirect.

How do I request RatingsDirect access?

  1. Check you have a working Capital IQ login.
  2. Send an email to support.capiqpro@spglobal.com and ask for RatingsDirect access to be added to your University of Manchester Capital IQ account.
  3. If you do not hear back within two working days, contact them again. The Library is unable add RatingsDirect permissions to your account.
