How do I schedule a bulk/batch SDC Platinum request?

SDC Platinum is available as an add-on to LSEG Refinitiv Workspace, in its web version, desktop version and Excel version. Users will typically create a session (search) and run it right away. If you have a particularly large search that might take a long time to run or download, you can schedule it to run later, then download the results at your convenience. The schedule utility also lets you repeat run a session at regular intervals.

Outline of how to run a scheduled session:

  1. Prepare the session search as usual (choice of query variables).
  2. Prepare the report (choice of output columns).
  3. Save the session as a session file.
  4. Launch the Scheduled Batch Reporting utility.
  5. Upload the session file.
  6. Choose the scheduler parameters.
  7. Run.
  8. Get an email notification, come back to download the output.

Here are the steps in more detail:

  1. When preparing the session search, you can use the 'Execute' button to see how many deals are matched.
  2. As soon as you have added the report, do not click 'Execute' again, as this will run the full report right away.
  3. Click 'Save Session As', name the file, it will have the .sdcs file extension (that stands for SDC Session). You will be asked to save it to somewhere on your computer.
  4. Next, go to the 'Utilities' menu and click 'Scheduled Batch Reporting'. Click '+ New Schedule' and give it a name.
  5. Click 'Add Custom Session' (you can alternatively use one of the built-in standard sessions).
  6. Choose to run once only. Set a start/end date and time (this can be as soon as 5 minutes from now). You can have an email notification when the data is ready.
  7. When you have set all the parameters, click to 'Set' the schedule.
  8. If the results file is less than 8MB, it will be attached to your notification email. Otherwise, when you come back to SDC, there will be a green bar with a link to a 'Downloads' section which shows the report you just ran. Note, the link to the Downloads section will disappear after you first click it, so make sure to download the results right away.
