Where can I find information on initial public offerings (IPOs)?

Refinitiv can be used to find IPOs in a similar way to finding mergers and acquisitions.

  • Search for the 'Screener' app.
  • Select the 'Deals' universe and the 'Equity' asset class.
  • Choose the 'Issue Type' as 'IPO'.
  • For data on private equity, select the 'Private Equity/VC' universe instead.
  • See our guide Researching mergers and acquisitions in Eikon which introduces the Screener app.

In  Capital IQ, use ‘Screening’, ‘Transaction screening’. Select search criteria items from the ‘Public Offering Details’ section.

In Bloomberg, use the ‘Equity Calendar’ function (type ‘ECDR’ and press Enter) then select ‘Advanced Search’.

Consider the following websites:

  • The London Stock Market provides various statistics including New Issues and IPO Summary spreadsheet.
  • Company SEC filings can be accessed through the Search EDGAR facility.
  • Jay R. Ritter has an excellent web page of IPO data which has covered rich statistics and analysis on IPOs worldwide, including data files from the appendices of several IPO papers.
