Where can I find historical and current economic data for countries worldwide?

In Capital IQ, use the 'Markets' menu and choose 'Macroeconomics' or 'Interest Rates'. You can also retrieve many of these fields in the Excel version (you need the two-character ISO country code).

In Datastream, when choosing the ‘Data Category’, select ‘Economics’. Use the ‘Explore’ feature to select the appropriate economics option, such as ‘Economics > Key Indicators by Country > [Country Name]’.

In LSEG Refinitiv Workspace, search for the name of the country and search for apps including 'Macro Vitals' and 'Macro Explorer'.

In Bloomberg, there is an overview page for each country.

Euromonitor Passport covers economic data for over 200 countries worldwide, both historical and forecast.

IHS Country Monitor reports are available via Business Source Premier. Select ‘Country reports’ in ‘Publication Type’.

OECD Economic Outlook is available via Business Source Premier.

Consider the following websites:

  • EH.Net provides an online location for researchers in economic history to make their data series available to other professionals and interested scholars.
  • Historicalstatistics.org is a Swedish-based portal for historical statistics. In addition to Swedish economic statistics, the site aggregates links to economic statistical series for other nations.
