Where can I find current and historical company annual reports?
You can look through a company's corporate website if you wish to find their recent annual reports. However, the databases below will give you a standard interface for searching across many companies, going back decades in some cases.
LSEG Refinitiv Workspace is one of the best sources of company annual reports. Search for a company of interest then use the Filings app, or, for multiple companies, use the Advanced Filings (ADVFIL) app. In the 'Report Types' box, search for 'ARS' or 'Annual Report' or 'FullYear'.
Another database PI Filings Expert also covers current and historical company annual reports with more searching options.
See also Mergent Archives, including company annual reports back to 1925. Interesting note, many of their reports were digitised from hard copies we used to keep at Eddie Davies Library. The search interface of Mergent is more simplistic than Workspace or Bloomberg.
Bulk access to company annual reports
If you wish to download reports or filings for a whole index of companies at a time, you may prefer to use Bloomberg. To get started, see our Getting started with searching Bloomberg or Introduction to Bloomberg.
- Search for the 'Company Filings' function, code CF. It will load the Company Document Search function, code DSCO.
- On the red horizontal menu, click 'Settings'.
- Make sure that 'Include related company filings' is ticked, then click the 'Close' button.
- Use the amber search box to search for your chosen index, such as 'NMX Index' for the FTSE 350. (You may need to clear a previous search.)
- Scroll down the filters list on the left until you find the box labelled 'Filings Filters'. Here, tick the box next to 'Annual Report'.
- To change the date range, click the dates button to the right of the amber search box. Choose your date range. (Note, the dates button may be labelled 'All Dates' or 'Last 5 Years' or similar.)
- To download the reports in one big zip archive, go to the red horizontal menu, click 'Export' then 'Bulk Download'.
- Tick the reports you wish to download (or the box at the top to select all) then click the 'Download to Desktop' button. Follow any further instructions on screen.
- The files in the zip archive will be named with the ticker of the company. If the ticker has any punctuation (like the ticker for BP PLC which is 'BP/ LN Equity'), the punctuation will be removed.
If you are short of hard drive/storage space, you may need to break your request down into smaller chunks, for example, three months at a time.
