Learn more about Open Research
The Office for Open Research is dedicated to supporting researchers in building knowledge and skills essential to understanding and adopting Open Research principles and practices. Open Research is a broad and evolving field encompassing various practices, all of which contribute to a more transparent, responsible, and ethical research culture. By adopting Open Research practices, researchers can enhance the credibility, reproducibility, and impact of their work, fostering greater collaboration and innovation across disciplines.

Open Research Skills and Training
The applicability of different open research practices varies across disciplines. Exploring the Open Research Skills Framework can help all researchers to identify and access the support that fits your particular Open Research needs.
Our researcher development programme, My Research Essentials (MRE), provides a catalogue of workshops and online resources designed to introduce and support Open Research practices. Participation in these sessions is an excellent way to explore key concepts within the Open Research Skills Framework, and to help you to develop skills that support open, reproducible, and impactful research.
Fostering communities of Open Research practice is a key part of the Open Research movement, providing those with an interest in Open Research with a network of support, advice and collegiality. The University of Manchester is connected to the global Open Research movement and is an institutional member of the UK Reproducibility Network.
