I have an error message in SDC Platinum: 'Service Prompt Not Found!'

When you launch SDC Platinum and click the ‘Login’ button, you are prompted to enter user initials. When we first subscribed to SDC, we set up a user account called ‘Eddie Davies Library’, with the user initials ‘EDL’. You must type these initials when logging in.

Sometimes the connection attempt may time out and show a message 'Service Prompt Not Found!':

Connection Status

Follow the steps below to change which server SDC Platinum connects to.

Launch SDC Tools

The user accounts are managed in a separate application called SDC Tools.

  1. Accept the user initials error message.
  2. Close SDC Platinum.
  3. Click on the Start menu and search for ‘SDC Tools’. Double-click it.

Change the server address

Change IP address

The wrong server address may be in use. Change it to another one:

  1. On the icon menu, click the ‘Options’ icon.
  2. The ‘Default User Options’ window appears. Find the field labelled ‘IP Address’ and replace 'ocpl.thomsonib.com' with 'platinum.thomsonib.com'.
  3. Click the ‘OK’ button, then close SDC Tools.

Launch SDC Platinum again

Launch SDC Platinum again

Run SDC Platinum again, enter the user initials, and continue as usual, with a project description.
