Where can I get help learning programming (Python)?
The following resources are good for learning Python:
Python website
(doesn’t look very flashy, but has so much information)
Udemy has a couple of free courses:
this one is
a good all rounder
, with some emphasis on theory
this one is
good for absolute beginners
this one for
people who want to dive right into a project
Sololearn
also has one.
Software Carpentry has two Python workshops
, you may also watch a
Software Carpentry Python recording
(3 hours) or this
full Software Carpentry workshop recording
(4 x 3 hours) covering Shell, Python and Git.
Look at the
University Computer Science Society
who host workshops and events which may be open to all students.
To learn Python before learning text analysis, see
ACRL DSS: Introduction to Jupyter and Python Basics for librarians and digital humanists
(4 x 1¼ hours) videos.
