How does the Library support Digital Accessibility?

Laptop and iPad loans

Laptop and iPad loans enable all students regardless of income access to our Library Services and Resources to aid in completing their studies.

iPads offer key apps including Blackboard, Adobe Reader, user guides, Prezi, TED and social media.

Laptops offer Microsoft Office applications, eduroam WiFi, and wireless printing.

These loans are available from the Main Library and the Alan Gilbert Learning Commons.

Digital Collections

Through our digital collections, we ensure that individuals who cannot visit the Library in person can still engage with our collections.

There are three primary digital platforms through which users can access our extensive collections:

  • Launched in 2020, Manchester Digital Collections provides ultra-high-quality images and rich descriptions of the University's cultural assets and research projects.

  • Library Digitised Collections offers online access to key items from the Library's collections. Users can search and view digitised versions of various materials, supporting research, teaching, and learning across the University.
