How do I access catalogues of other libraries?
Library Hub Discover holds the catalogues of 149 UK and Irish academic, national & specialist Libraries.
The British Library is the national library of the United Kingdom and gives access to the world’s most comprehensive research collection. Their collection of over 170 million items includes artefacts from every age of written civilisation. They keep the nation’s archive of printed and digital publications, adding around three million new items to the collection every year.
The European Library is an online portal which offers quick and easy access to the collections of the 48 National Libraries of Europe and leading European Research Libraries.
The Library of Congress is the largest library in the world, with millions of books, recordings, photographs, newspapers, maps and manuscripts in its collections.
Manchester Public Libraries have several sites across the borough, each Library can vary in it's membership requirements so it is best to check these before making any journey.
WorldCat lets you search the collections of libraries in your community and thousands more around the world.
The University of Manchester Library is part of the SCONUL scheme, in which users can access the resources of other participating institutions who are also part of the scheme. The type of access offered can differ depending on your status and this will be determined when you add your details on the SCONUL Access page.
If the Library does not already hold a resource that you wish to use, you can request it through our 'Order a Book' and 'Order an Article' scheme. The Library will send you a notification email, once your material has been sourced and is ready for you to access.
