What are the minimum browser requirements when using e-books?

EBSCOhost

Internet Explorer versions 9.0 and older are not compatible with the technology used to support vertical scroll.

To be able to vertically scroll EBSCOhost e-books we recommend these browsers: Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome or IE 10.0 or later. For users with Internet Explorer versions 9.0 or older, please see Adobe Acrobat Reader Browser Requirements and settings for all supported browsers on the Adobe help pages.

See the general browser requirements for the EBSCO host interface page.

Internet Explorer versions 8.0 and older are not compatible with e-books in EPUB format.

To view an EPUB format eBook, EBSCO recommended these browsers: Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome or Internet Explorer 10 or later.

ProQuest Ebook Central

  • Internet Explorer 9 and later versions
  • Latest Firefox release and previous major version
  • Latest Google Chrome release and previous major version
  • Safari 5 and later versions

VLeBooks

  • Internet Explorer 8 and above
  • Firefox 4 and above
  • Chrome 12 and above
  • Safari 5 and above
  • JavaScript must be enabled within the browser but Flash is not required.

JSTOR

JSTOR works best with Safari, Firefox and Chrome. Although Internet Explorer is supported, 'Microsoft won't be creating any new versions of Internet Explorer so the quality of your experience will only get worse’.

See the JSTOR browser compatability page for more information about which browser to use for JSTOR and how to identify/update browsers.
