How do I book a group study room?
Study rooms in the Libraries can be booked by any of our students
Available group study rooms
Alan Gilbert Learning Commons:
There are 30 study rooms available to book in The Learning Commons. These are bookable between the hours of 9am-8pm, 7 days a week (during term time). Outside these hours it will be on a first come, first served basis.
Main Library:
There are 12 study rooms available to book in The Main Library. These are bookable between the hours of 9am-8pm, 7 days a week (during term time). Outside these hours it will be on a first come, first served basis.
Stopford Library:
There are 6 study rooms available to book in Stopford Library. These are bookable between the libraries opening hours of 9am-5pm weekdays (during term time).
Muriel Stott Centre:
There are 52 individual study spaces available to book in The Muriel Stott Building located in the courtyard of Main Library. These are bookable between the hours of 9am-8pm, 7 days a week (during term time). Outside these hours it will be on a first come, first served basis.
Placing a booking
For all rooms:
- Go to Resource Booker
- Log in with your University IT username & password (the login that you use for Blackboard).
- Click on the library you wish to book a space in (i.e. 'Stopford Library group study spaces')
- You can refine your search here for rooms which are available now, or use the calendar function to book in advance.
- The maximum booking duration is 3 hours at a time
- You are able to make 2 bookings a day, 5 bookings a week and 10 bookings a month

Rooms can be booked for up to 28 days in advance. You will be able to see the calendar beyond that time, but won’t be able to make a booking
Confirmation
Once a booking has been made successfully, you will see the confirmation details on screen and an email will be sent to your student email account containing your booking details.
How to access the room
- To use your booking simply go to the correct room at the time booked and enter if vacant.
- If the room is already occupied, politely inform the occupants that you have a booking and show them your confirmation.
- If there are any problems in accessing a room please seek assistance from the Customer Service Desk.
Using a room without a booking
- All rooms are accessible without having been booked.
- If a person with a valid booking for that room arrives at any time of their booked period they must be allowed its use without delay and those without a booking must vacate the room immediately.
When you leave
- Vacate the room five minutes before the end of your session.
- Remove any Library materials that you have been using.
- Ensure all refuse is disposed of responsibly (leave no trace).
