How to apply for a membership...
In order to do so you must first apply to SCONUL via the website then bring, in person, a copy of your SCONUL Access approval email (this can be printed or simply shown to a staff member on your personal device) and your university ID card to the Front Desk in the Main Library. You will be asked to complete an application form for membership of The University of Manchester Library.
Your membership card will them be produced for you while you wait, usually within 10-15 minutes.
Memberships can be processed at the following times:
SCONUL users who are entitled to borrow books, can loan four books for the academic year (High Demand books are excluded). If you apply with a Band R- your membership is for reference of our collection only.
You can also browse a selection of our e-resources collection on our External Users PC. Please speak to a member of the Library Experience Team at the front desk who will set up the computer for you. The External Users PC can be used during the following hours:
