• Review and original research articles can be published immediately Open Access at no cost to the author 

• Agreement applies to all the publisher’s three subscription journals plus the two fully Open Access journals, ‘Disease Models & Mechanisms’ and ‘Biology Open’  

• Agreement applies to both funded and unfunded papers  

• Corresponding author must be affiliated with The University of Manchester  

• Deal covers full cost of APC 

• This publisher’s portfolio is focused on biology and biological sciences 

How to access the agreement

• A step-by-step guide to article submission is available via the publisher’s website  

• During the submission process, state that you are affiliated with the University of Manchester, and use your university email address  

• If you are submitting an article to the subscription-based journals ‘Development,’ ‘Journal of Cell Science’ or ‘Journal of Experimental Biology’, select ‘Gold Open Access’ and ‘Read & Publish fee waiver'. This step is not required when submitting to the fully Open Access journals ‘Disease Models & Mechanisms’ and ‘Biology Open’
