I'm a student at The University of Manchester, how do I access the library?

Your Student ID card is your Library Card. You use this to:

  • Access the building (some sites have security gates where you will need to scan your card.)
  • Borrow library items
  • Borrow laptops or iPads
  • To collect printing/make photocopies/scan to email

If you have lost/forgotten your card, you may obtain a temporary pass for that day from the Day Pass Kiosks found in either the Main Library or The Alan Gilbert Learning Commons. To get a replacement student card you will have to pay a fee of £10 on the University of Manchester E-Store. Once you have paid for a replacement and received the confirmation email, a member of staff can print it for you either at your Student Hub or at the Customer Services Desk of the Main Library.

Visit the library website for a list of our library sites and opening hours.
